Yorkshire Terrier

The Yorkshire Terrier may be small and elegant, but it has the bold heart of a true terrier. Originally bred as rat hunters in mines and mills, Yorkies later became beloved lapdogs of Victorian society. Weighing no more than seven pounds, they are known for their long, silky coats in steel blue and golden tan. Despite their dainty appearance, Yorkies are tenacious, brave, and sometimes bossy, packing a big personality into a tiny frame. Popular in cities worldwide, they are hypoallergenic, long-lived,

and make excellent watchdogs. Their hair-like coat requires daily brushing if kept long, with weekly baths to stay clean. To prevent eye irritation, their facial hair should be trimmed or tied up in a topknot.
